Art Supply Staples

I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve been using a lot of lately!  Sometimes I go in phases with the types of art supplies I use but these little lovelies might have become a permanent part of my process!

Pitt Pens and Micron Pens

Faber-Castell Pitt Pens and Micron Pens

I am a new pen fanatic!  The Faber-Castell Pitt Pens are especially cool for mixed media artists since they draw over paint!!!  You can use a brown pen, and while still wet smudge it to make a shadow effect.  They do dry quick though so move fast and or add a little water.

ORGANIZED PENS!!

ORGANIZED PENS!!

Yes I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about it before, but I love my organization!   Everything in its place so I can find it when I want it!  So when I started becoming serious about using pens I knew I had to have this pen rack!  It is called “The Ultimate Pen Storage Rack” and it totally is!  It was originally made for Spectrum Noir Pens but its shaped well enough to hold any pens.  I currently have my Spectrum Noir, Prisma Color and Copic Sketch pens in the rack.  I already need a second full rack to put all my Faber Castell and Micron pens on!  I’m a visual person so I like to see all the pens out in the open in all their mix and matchable glory!  If you didn’t catch it, add my love of Spectrum Noir and Copic pens to the list of favs!

Color wheels and stencil shapes

I also love my color wheel for indecisive moments and stencil shapes for quick shapes and perfect circles!  I can be quite the perfectionist sometimes so busting out a quick circle with a stencil speeds up my draw, erase, redraw, erase, draw again, erase again … routine. Color wheels and stencils are beautiful tools!

Travel Case

Travel Case

Finally my handy travel case.  I go no where without this guy lately!  I emptied out my prismacolor colored pencil tin and realized it was the perfect size to fit my pencil tin, assorted erasers and a variety of Faber Castell pens.  Super easy way to pack up my pencils and pens for the trip to and from the studio.  I don’t want to get caught at home inspired without my tools of the trade!

So these are all the lovlies filling my every day lately!  What have you been working on or with?  Do you have a favorite art supply?
